You said I should never be afraid, you said you were never gonna hurt me, you said you knew right from wrong and that you were going to teach me. You said I needed your priceless advice in order to get a life (when I grow up). So I am not sure how it started: The process of time passing is constant and constantly things change without us even realizing it: You said only you could tell me the truth and that I should never question anything you said. You said rebelling is not fashionable anymore and kids should always do what they are told. How could you expect me never to get bored? You said I should trust you. How many times did I have to listen to that bloody word, “trust”? How come I never had to tell you that you should trust me? How come you didn’t realize I was not the one who should be afraid anymore? And I thought (yes I did and for a long time) you were the clever one! You almost convinced me that it was so, but obviously you must have made a mistake at one point in the story. How disappointing! You have underestimated me. Otherwise you would not be where you are now, admitting you are anywhere at all. Well I don’t think so, but who knows? I know where you are according to the coroner and that is quite enough for me, thank you very much. And the funny thing is I don’t feel anything at all. I thought I was gonna be afraid, or sad or traumatized, but that must have happened a long time ago and after that I was baptized. I was your best pupil after all, wasn’t I? So it happened that I learned so well that I will never be afraid again, because nothing in the universe could be more frightening than you, except maybe myself, but for this matter we’ll have to wait and see, ‘cause only time will tell. The other funny thing is that I remember everything you said in all those years except what you said at the end. You were going on about punishment or something like that, but that was just before, what did you say after that? Guess it was something nice, yes it was something quite nice that I find really hard to recall! Well, whatever, nevermind. I am starting school tomorrow and they have given me the best class (guess who’s?). They said I was the best qualified to carry on what you have done so wonderfully during all those years. They said you would be proud of me and I know you would, but they don’t really know what they are talking about. They don’t know what I have learned from you and they don’t know what I am capable of. But as things turned out, I better keep it to myself.
